ABOUT SAVE THE CHIMPS
Founded in 1997 by Carole Noon, Ph.D. who was inspired to help chimpanzees after meeting Dr. Jane Goodall in the early 1980s.
Noon founded Save the Chimps to provide permanent sanctuary to chimpanzees being abandoned by the United States Air Force.
In 2002 with generous financial support provided by the Arcus Foundation, 266 chimpanzees were rescued from a former biomedical research laboratory and now call the 150-acre Save the Chimps sanctuary in Fort Pierce their permanent home.

FORT PIERCE — Legendary television host and animal advocate Bob Barker has donated $250,000 to Save the Chimps sanctuary.
"Chimpanzees that have been tortured both physically and mentally for years in hideous research experiments at long last find the first peace, contentment and love they have ever known at Save the Chimps,” said Barker. "I invite you to join me in helping Save the Chimps to continue their splendid work."
This is the second generous gift Barker has given Save the Chimps. In 1998, just months after Save the Chimps was founded, Barker donated $10,000 to the organization.
Save the Chimps is the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary dedicated to providing permanent sanctuary for the lifelong care of chimpanzees rescued from research laboratories, entertainment and the pet trade.
“We are incredibly grateful to Bob Barker for this remarkable gift, which will have a major impact on our organization and the chimps we care for,” said Executive Director Philip Flynn III. “Mr. Barker is one of the great champions for animals and their rights.”
Barker is the former host of “The Price is Right” and prominent animal rights advocate. In addition to elevating awareness of major animal rights and animal welfare issues, his generosity has benefited a number of animal welfare organizations and established academic programs.
