Family, friends and fans aren't the only ones mourning Robin Williams.
Koko the gorilla, who communicates in sign language, spent time with the late actor in 2001 at the Gorilla Foundation in Northern California and was deeply saddened to hear the news of his death.
Koko's caretaker Dr. Patterson shared a tribute to Williams on Koko.org Tuesday along with a moving video of their meeting.
Kok Patterson explained she told Koko "we have lost a dear friend, Robin Williams."
"Koko was quiet and looked very thoughtful," she continued in the post.
Koko signed to Patterson "CRY LIP (LIP is Koko's sign for woman)."
"At the end of the day, Koko became very somber, with her head bowed and her lip quivering."

Koko the gorilla has somber reaction to Robin Williams' death.
"We shared something extraordinary: Laughter. Koko understands spoken English and uses over 1,000 signs to share her feelings and thoughts about daily events, life, love, even death. It was awesome and unforgettable."
"Notice that Robin made Koko smile — something she hadn't done for over 6 months, ever since her lifelong gorilla companion, Michael, passed away at the age of 27. But not only did Robin cheer up Koko, the effect was mutual, and Robin seemed transformed," Patterson added.
The touching tribute concluded with two somber photos of the gorilla after finding out about Williams’ passing.
