Dog lovers get their (2) days

Cool Waters opens its gates to dogs on Labor Day evening.
Who says the dog days of summer are over? Two big events show there's still plenty for dog lovers to pant about this time of year.
On Monday, it's the last dip of the summer, and lifeguards will be on duty to help any swimmer who has trouble doing the dog paddle.
The event is the eighth annual Doggie Dip from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cool Waters in Greenfield Park, 2028 S. 124th St. Bring bowser's bath towel and unleash your dog to swim with fellow canines in the zero-depth entry pool.
Admission for the person/pooch combo is $5. Visit milwaukeedogparks.org for more information and, in case of inclement weather, call the Cool Waters hotline at (414) 321-7530 for updates.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, it's the fifth annual Wagfest at Mitchell Park, 19900 River Road in Brookfield, the Elmbrook Humane Society's biggest event of the year. Tails are required, but humans are welcome to join in the fun of watching lure coursing, taking part in games and shopping at vendor booths. Celebrity bartenders will serve up more than water. Food and nail trims are on the schedule, too.
Admission is free. For more information: ebhs.org.
