This animal has style and smarts - and may have been looking to do some shopping as well.
A monkey was spotted wandering the parking lot of a Toronto Ikea store on Sunday while wearing what looked like a comfortable coat.
The primate shocked onlookers after apparently finding a way out of a crate in its owner's car, CBC News reported.
"It was the weirdest thing," shopper Stephanie Yim told CBC News. "I thought I was going insane."
The monkey seemed composed, but occasionally cried out, Yim said.
"It would start 'monkey-screaming,'" Yim told CBC News. "It seemed like it was screaming around for someone [IT]knew. It was sad."
The monkey was eventually reunited with its owners, who were shopping in the store, the Canadian Press reported. Wendy Drummond, the Toronto Police Service media officer, tweeted that "Toronto police not laying any charges in #ikeamonkey incident. No further investigation/involvement by police."
The monkey seems to have survived the little adventure well, and has become something of a star in cyberspace.
A parody "Ikea Monkey" Twitter account already has 1,500 followers.
"ahhh it's been such a wild ride being a part of the ZEITGEIST today u know," the faux monkey tweeted.
"The only time Toronto makes international news is when our Mayor falls over or someone finds a well-dressed monkey," someone else tweeted.
