How to socialize your dog

How should we socialize our dogs so that they will grow up as well adjusted as possible?  Similar to how you socialize  childeParents take their children grocery shopping,  to visit relatives, or to the library.  Through such exposure over time, children learn what to expect and how to behave in different places.
 
And your dog needs similar gradual exposure to situations like dog parks or puppy class.
 

 Exposure and familiarity will allow your puppy to adapt to walks in his neighborhood, to go to the local dog park for exercise, or to visit a local nursing home for community service.

 

Start early helping the dog understand what behaviors are expected in various situations.
