Martha, a 125-pound Neapolitan Mastiff who was so disinterested in Friday's World's Ugliest Dog Contest that she plopped down on the ground in front of judges, was crowned the 2017 winner.
The three-year-old hound beat out 13 other canines for the title, including a bald Chinese Crested pooch and a mixed breed named Icky.
While the dogs entered into the annual contest, held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in California, may not be the most visually appealing creatures, their quirky looks, off-beat personalities and unusual attributes are viewed as prized possessions during the contest.

According to NBC Bay Area, Martha was a crowd favorite from the moment she walked out — or plopped down — on stage. Instead of flaunting her long, droopy face for the judges like other dogs did, Martha fell over on her side deciding to take a quick break from the day's activities. She's also said to have suffered from a gas, something apparently no one seemed to mind.
By the end of the day, Martha not only had a few fans but won $1,500 and a trophy. She and her owner, Shirley Zindler, will also travel to New York for media appearances.

Zindler rescued Martha from the Dogwood Animal Rescue Project in Sonama County, CBS reports. The pup was nearly blind from neglect by the time Zindler swept in and saved her.
Coming in second place at the contest was a 16-year-old Brussels Griffon-pug mixed named Moe, who lost his sight and hearing. In third place was a 14-year-old Chinese Crested-Harke mix named Chase.
